Bhante will speak during instructor Ben Jumper's Comparative Religion class from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. in classroom 135. The presentation is open to the community.
Wimala has studied under many Buddhist teachers and masters and has traveled worldwide for more than two decades.
His philosophy emphasizes a focus on "be-living" rather than "believing." He explains how meditation functions as a healing force for the mind, and he also discusses global problems such as pollution and the degeneration of the environment.
Through the Triple Gem Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization that uses a spiritual message to promote world peace, Bhante is involved in humanitarian projects throughout the world, providing medical care and supplies, shelter, schools and scholarships. In the United States, Triple Gem helps sponsor a prison ministry.
