College can indeed fit into anyone's lifestyle and we're here to help, said Kathleen Kramer, Ed.D, dean of the local campus. "We invite everyone to the Lebanon Campus who wants to 'get started' and take advantage of speaking to an academic adviser, explore career choices and transfer options plus complete the admission process at one time."
Participants can tour the Lebanon Campus, meet current students, faculty and staff, and learn about student organizations and resources.
In addition to learning about HACC's programs and individual career options, those who apply for admission will have the $35 application fee waived, can complete placement testing and register for classes. HACC is an open enrollment institution which means that any student 18 years or older can be admitted to the college. SATs are not required. New students complete placement testing to ensure appropriate placement into English and mathematics courses.
Popular career areas include health care, human services, the sciences and English as a second language. While participants can find help in determining college courses and career paths, assistance also is available for financial aid, scholarships and veterans' benefits.
"HACC has the second highest number of veterans in college using their benefits in the state," Kramer said.
"We also want to remind Lebanon residents that starting at HACC can lead to a bachelor's degree. HACC students are finding they can take their two-year associate degree and transfer their credits to finish at a four-year college like Lebanon Valley College or Millersville University," she said. "Our dual-admission agreements with other colleges allow for a seamless transition between schools."
Recent HACC graduates have transferred their credits to 275 different colleges and universities throughout the state and beyond.
Students looking for employment skills or a career change rather than college transfer can get it started with a HACC diploma or certificate program, or a career associate degree.
