The first show in the series, scheduled to run from Sept. 1 to Oct. 31, will feature tea traditions, such as teacups, teapots, tea cozies and tea bowls. The Radius Showcase Series - Tea Traditions is open to Pennsylvania craftsmen of all mediums who explore both traditional and abstract solutions.
"The reason we chose tea tradition as the focus of our first showcase in the series is because so many craftsmen make teacups and teapots," said Jessica Lantz, curator of arts and assistant manager. "While, traditionally, the designs were purely functional, craftsmen now are making abstract teapots that incorporate contemporary ideas."
The deadline to submit entries for consideration is Monday, Aug. 6. All artists are limited to four entries, which must be submitted digitally either by email or placed on a disk and sent in the mail. There is no fee to enter; however, all work chosen for the showcase must be available for sale on consignment. Applicants must be Pennsylvania residents.
The Radius Selections Committee will review all entries. Those artists whose work is chosen for the showcase are responsible for delivery and return of their work.
Direct all email entries to Lantz at jllantz@hacc.edu. Mailed digital entries should be addressed to Lantz at 300 North Third StreetHarrisburg, PA 17120.
