Fran Verotsky of Mechanicsburg has been named director of the Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies at HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College.

Verotsky has been serving as acting director of the Institute since last July.

She has served HACC in a variety of roles since 1986, starting as faculty in the Business Division.

She also was coordinator of the Office Information Systems program and administrator for Work Readiness Programs with local chambers and economic development organizations.

Since 2004, she has served as acting assistant dean in the Business, Hospitality, Engineering and Technology Division.

Verotsky brings experience as a board member of the Murata Business Center in Carlisle and has served on the board of Kappa Beta Delta, the business honor society.

She is involved in numerous business-related organizations, including the Commonwealth's Keystone Innovation Zone, the Commonwealth's Innovation Transfer Network, Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs, National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (twice award winner) and others.

Verotsky holds a master's degree in education with a business focus and a bachelor's degree in business education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

The Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies exists as an outreach arm of HACC's Workforce and Economic Development division to assist individuals in turning their dream of business ownership into a reality. The focus of the Institute is on one-on-one counseling and educational programs that serve entrepreneurs from the initial idea stage through the first three years of operation. It is located at Penn Center, 349 Wiconisco Street, Harrisburg.
