This October HACC's York Center offers a broad spectrum of topics in noncredit sessions. Ways to reduce your debt, understanding landlord and tenant law as well as how to select wines and how to create jewelry with Precious Metal Clay are the upcoming topics at the York Center of HACC at 2010 Pennsylvania Avenue.
- "Invest in Your Debt" can help you get completely out of debt, including your mortgage. In as little at three to seven years, you could save more than $100,000 in interest. Session is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10. The cost is $46.
- Whether you collect or pay rent, "Landlord/Tenant Law" shows you how to create landlord/tenant relationships including fair housing laws, capacity to contract, form leases and statute of frauds, lease terms, security deposits, utilities, rights and duties payment of rent, tenant disputes, implied warranties, termination of relationship and more. Held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the Advanced Skills Center, 2101 Pennsylvania Ave., just a short distance from the York Center. Cost is $35.
- "Beginners Guide to Wine" shows you the history of imported and domestic wines, the winemaking process and the primary grape varieties. Gain an understanding for selecting the appropriate wine with food. You must be 21 years of age to attend this class. Held 6:15-9:15 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 4-25.
- Precious Metal Clay (PMC) is a revolutionary new material that is changing the jewelry world. "PMC Basics" demonstrates how the clay-like material is worked and shaped, then fired by torch or kiln that turns it to pure silver. Make charms, beads, pendants or earrings. Scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 8-15. Cost is $45. Students purchase supplies.
