LANCASTER - “Best 100 Places to Work in America: What We Can Learn about Success from Edward Jones” is the first topic for Women’s Talkabouts from noon-1:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, at the Lancaster Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
Leanne Biers of Edward Jones, Ephrata, will lead the discussion in Room 309 of the East Building on the campus, 1641 Old Philadelphia Pike. Participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch and beverage. Women’s Talkabouts is an informal networking series offered by HACC's Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies, an extension of the college’s annual Women on the Move conference. Every session of Women’s Talkabouts is led by a local woman entrepreneur. In the first year of the program, topics ranged from marketing and how to build a customer base to effective use of the Internet. The sessions have drawn an increasingly larger group of participants as the program has evolved, said Fran Verotsky, director of HACC’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies. “What is really interesting is that every time we offer one of these sessions, we get repeat participants, as well as new entrepreneurs,” she said. “The program continues to grow.” Women’s Talkabouts began in 2007 and were held at HACC’s Penn Center in Harrisburg. Because of the popularity of the program and requests from central Pennsylvania businesswomen, it has expanded to the Lancaster, Lebanon and York campuses.
