Women entrepreneurs invited to free networking session on Sept. 19
Aug. 26, 2008
YORK, PA – The premise that a positive attitude builds confidence is a basic principle that every women entrepreneur should live by, says Jody Newcomer.
The self-described “confidence coach” and college communications professor will share her insight during the next Women’s Talkabouts at the York Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
“Relearning Your ABCs: Attitude Builds Confidence” will be the topic of the free, informal networking session noon-1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, on the campus at 2010 Pennsylvania Ave. Participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch. HACC will provide a dessert and beverage.
In addition to her teaching duties, Newcomer runs a York-based property maintenance company with her husband and is in the formative stages of building Women’s Touch International. It is through this business that she hopes to empower women to take time for themselves and to have a positive effect on each other.
Newcomer said her goal is to create an organization that brings women together in small groups as part of a larger whole, much like the Red Hat Society that started locally and is now international in scope.
“I want to encourage people and empower people to move up to the next rung and live the life they should live versus what they think they have to (live),” Newcomer said.
Newcomer will nurture this type of positive attitude in the women entrepreneurs who will attend the upcoming HACC session.
“They actually will get to do some fun exercises to see the difference a positive attitude makes,” she said. “You have to be confident and believe in yourself in order for others to believe in you.”
Women business owners interested in attending the Sept. 19 session should call 1-800-ABC-HACC (222-4222), ext. 1311 to reserve a seat.
