Women's Talkabouts series Nov. 14 turns to tips for tough economic times
Oct. 31, 2008
York, PA—In these tough economic times, women entrepreneurs with small marketing budgets are searching for creative ways to market their businesses. Kim Walsh, the York-based founder of Inside Out Creative, says there is a low-cost, strategic approach to spreading the word, but it involves hard work and the use of partnerships, creativity and technology.
Walsh will share her insight during the upcoming Women’s Talkabouts scheduled for the York Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
“Marketing Without Moolah” will be the topic of the free, informal networking session noon-1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, on the campus at 2010 Pennsylvania Ave. Participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch. HACC will provide a dessert and beverage.
“This topic is extremely well-timed,” says Lisa Steffen, a business counselor with HACC’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies. “Marketing is a buzz word with entrepreneurs. They want to know more and more, not to mention that in this economic downturn, it means a lot more to people.”
Walsh has extensive experience in community development, working with arts and cultural and hospitality industry clients. This year the York Chamber of Commerce presented her with the Athena Award, and in 2005 she was named to Central Penn Business Journal’s “Top Forty Under 40” and the Pennsylvania Department of Economic Development’s “Top 50 Women in Business in Pennsylvania.”
Women business owners interested in attending the Nov. 14 session should call 1-800-ABC-HACC (800-222-4222), ext. 1311 to reserve a seat.
The Women’s Talkabouts will return to HACC York in January with featured speaker Anita Marchesani, PhD, a personal executive coach, licensed psychologist and certified fitness trainer. Marchesani will continue the discussion she started during HACC’s 2008 Women on the Move conference, “Launching with Confidence, Capability and Connections!”
