HACC and Delaware Valley College join to offer agribusiness degree completion
March 24, 2009
HARRISBURG – Students at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, who are completing an agribusiness associate degree, can keep the momentum going for a bachelor’s degree and beyond without leaving the Harrisburg Campus.
A new agreement signed today by representatives from HACC and Delaware Valley College in Doylestown will allow students to complete a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness at HACC’s Harrisburg Campus.
While at HACC, underclassmen can choose a “dual enrollment” option to take advantage of resources at both institutions, such as library and student services, and seamlessly transition to completing a bachelor’s degree upon graduation from HACC.
HACC and Delaware Valley College already have a degree completion arrangement for a master of business administration in food and agribusiness degree.
“The collaboration makes a lot of sense especially in the present economic environment,” said HACC President Edna V. Baehre, Ph.D. “If there is a way to trim costs and still enable students to earn college degrees from two leading institutions for agribusiness programs, then, yes, we will make that happen.”
“This partnership is a tremendous opportunity for students in agribusiness,” said Robert McNeil, Director of Continuing Education at Delaware Valley College. “They can get a four-year education without having to relocate. And, it’s a boon in general for the agricultural community of Central Pennsylvania.”
Students must complete either an associate degree or complete 60 credits of coursework at HACC that follows the course sequence established by the two colleges. The students continue by enrolling as juniors at Delaware Valley College. Classes for the bachelor’s or master’s degree are taught by Delaware Valley College faculty at the Harrisburg Campus of HACC.
