Gettysburg, PA –“Come salsa with us!” says Jessica Knouse, student life coordinator at HACC’s Gettysburg Campus.
Students, faculty, staff and the public are invited to celebrate Hispanic cultures from around the globe at first International Fiesta on campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17. The lunchtime fiesta will include music and dance, with performances by Azucar Latin Dance band and group dance lessons with salsa dance instructor Eileen Torres. Azucar performs original salsas, merengues, cha chas, reggatons, and cumbias as well as hit cover tunes.
The fiesta will feature “foods from various Hispanic cultures and geographic regions,” Knouse said. Those who attend are invited to bring a traditional culinary dish to share, she added.
Upcoming event
HACC-Gettysburg Campus will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a variety of activities from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7. The program will feature mariachi music, traditional Mexican dances, art exhibits by Columbian and Nicaraguan artists, children’s activities, and foods representing various Latino cultures.
Both the International Fiesta on Sept. 17 and the Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Oct. 7 will be held at the newly renovated HACC-Gettysburg Campus, 731 Old Harrisburg Road. Both events are free and open to the public.
