LANCASTER – Landisville resident David Carl has been named to a new position of campus development officer at the Lancaster Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
Carl, who started work at HACC on July 20, was hired as a result of the community college’s $260 million, 10-year facilities master plan that includes expansion and renovation projects at the Lancaster Campus, as well as projects at the Gettysburg, Harrisburg and York campuses.
“I am pleased to have Dave Carl as the newest team member at the Lancaster Campus,” said Stuart Savin, Ed.D., campus vice president. “Not only does Dave have valuable experience in community relations and fund development, he also has worked in the nonprofit sector in key positions that will prove beneficial to expanding on our partnerships with local business and industry.”
Carl said, “I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in this new role to raise awareness and support for HACC’s mission to foster educational, cultural, workforce and economic growth in the community.
“I look forward to working with the HACC Lancaster team, community and business leaders, alumni and volunteers to build relationships, partnerships and alliances throughout Lancaster County,” he said.
Most recently, Carl was senior director, marketing and communications, with the American Heart Association’s Great Rivers Affiliate. In this role, he led internal and external teams in major, mid-level and small markets in three states to raise awareness and drive calls to action regarding the organization’s goals, mission-critical programs, activities and fund-raising events. As senior director, Carl developed and strengthened relationships with corporate partners, community leaders, legislators, volunteers and members of the media. During his first year with the organization, he was awarded the affiliate’s “Newcomer of the Year” award for his achievements.
Prior to working with the American Heart Association, Carl was senior communications/public affairs representative with Exelon Nuclear and provided internal and external communications, media relations, public relations and community outreach for Three Mile Island Nuclear Station. In this role, he developed and strengthened relationships with community leaders and officials, participated in community awareness and education programs, and oversaw contributions to the community. He also led communications activities for the company’s regional emergency plan and response.
Carl has a MBA from Penn State and is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). He also is a member of the Marketing and Awareness Task Force for the Nonprofit Resource Network. Carl has volunteered with Junior Achievement and with his local high school lacrosse booster club.
He lives with his wife and children in Landisville.
