How to lead eco-friendly lifestyle theme of Sept. 12 event

LANCASTER – Richard Whiteford, an internationally known activist and journalist, will give a presentation on global warming at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Lancaster Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
Two Phi Theta Kappa international honor society chapters are collaborating on this free, public event from 1-4 p.m. on the campus. Members of HACC’s Alpha Nu Omega chapter will provide free refreshments and members of Alpha Alpha Theta chapter at Cecil (Md.) College will facilitate.
In addition to Whiteford’s presentation, the Pixar movie “Wall-E” will be shown and Andrew Davis III will talk about how to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. Games and activities for children will be offered during the event.
Whiteford, the Pennsylvania and New Jersey outreach representative for Defenders of Wildlife conservation organization, was an honored guest speaker at the 18th International Conference on Health and the Environment hosted this year at the United Nations in New York City. He is the author of “Wild Pennsylvania,” and recently completed Al Gore’s training to be a certified presenter for Gore’s movie, “An Inconvenient Truth.”
His presentation will be at 1 p.m. in Room 222 of the Main Building on campus, 1641 Old Philadelphia Pike. “Wall-E” will be shown at 1 p.m. in Room 203 of the East Building.
Davis, Alpha Alpha Theta’s vice president of service, will give his presentation at 2:30 p.m. in Room 222 of the Main Building.
