The skills and talent of the HACC studio art faculty are featured at the next exhibit in the Rose Lehrman Arts Center Gallery.
"The Art Faculty at HACC" exhibit is from Sept. 2-25, with a reception for the artists to be held 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3 in the garden outside the gallery. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
“Visitors to HACC often comment about the well thought-out programs, well-equipped studios and talented faculty here,” said Kim Banister, gallery curator.
There are about 32 art faculty at HACC. The work of these artists is diverse, in medium as well as concept. There are painters, draftsmen and printmakers; digital and film photographers; ceramic artists and sculptors; graphic designers and illustrators.
Some of the work combines media, as does a print-based sculpture by Shawn Williams. Some of the work is a collaboration between artists, like the ceramic sculpture by Jim Lard and Robert Troxell. There is traditional work like the paintings from observation by Ruth Bernard and Monica Smith-Talbot and nontraditional like the layered digital images by Marjaneh Talebi or the dripping veils of color in Kim Banister’s drawings. Content ranges from portraiture to parody, magazine illustrations to metaphor, and sleek abstractions to specific people and places, as well as functional pottery.
Guests at the Sept. 3 reception and garden party will be joined by the contributing members of Live at Rose Lehrman’s Circle of Friends.
All Rose Lehrman Art Gallery events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5-7 p.m., or by appointment. For more information, call 780-2435 or e-mail Kim Banister, gallery curator, or go to the Rose Lehrman Art Gallery.
