Events offer something for everyone

Harrisburg, PA – HACC’s Harrisburg Campus will be buzzing with activity on Earth Day with several events open to the public.

A Tech and Trade Symposium filled with workshops and demonstrations on a variety of topics runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Midtown 2 at the corner of Third and Reily Streets. Get the skinny on Facebook, Twitter, geocaching, eportfolios, digital photography, Skype, the iPad – even tips on how to buy a computer.

Find out about the hot, in-demand jobs in the region during a Career Fair, scheduled from 1-5 p.m. at Midtown 2. Visit with business and industry leaders who are recruiting to fill those jobs. Learn about career pathways in the rapidly evolving world of green technology and take a tour of cool green technology, including solar panel and wind turbines.

The public also is invited to join in other Earth Day-related events:

Attend the grand opening of the Green Center of Central Pennsylvania from 9-10 a.m., with a ribbon cutting and presentation. The Green Center is located at 1426 N. Third St., across from Midtown 2.

Join representatives from HACC, Ronald McDonald House and Consolidated Scrap Resources Inc. at 11 a.m. to formally open a recycling collection bin for magazines, catalogs and any other types of glossy paper. The container is located on Industrial Drive in the parking lots of the Harrisburg Campus. It will be available 24 hours a day to the public to dispose of any glossy materials and help raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central Pennsylvania.
