Phi Theta Kappa to present award of distinction at Orlando conference

Harrisburg, PA – Thaddeus Sampson, dean of academic affairs for HACC’s communications, humanities, and the arts division, received an Administrator Award of Distinction for his strong level of support and commitment to Phi Theta Kappa, the national honors organization for community college students.
Sampson was one of 24 college administrators internationally to receive the award at the conference in Orlando this month. He has served as the founding advisor of the HACC Alpha Nu Omega chapter of Phi Theta Kappa since the chapter was founded in 1988.
HACC’s Alpha Nu Omega chapter has been the recipient of many awards including Five Star, Chapter Award of Excellence, and the Scholarship Hallmark Award. The Hallmark Awards Program is the society's capstone awards competition annually recognizing excellence in programs that promote the Phi Theta Kappa hallmarks of scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship. The Alpha Nu Omega chapter is designated as one of the top 100 chapters among the international chapters of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with 1,250 chapters on college campuses in all 50 states and U.S. territories, Canada, Germany, Republic of Palau, Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, British Virgin Islands, and United Arab Emirates. Founded in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is headquartered in Jackson, Miss. and inducts approximately 100,000 students annually.
