Harrisburg, PA -- HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, will be closing its Radius Gallery shop at the Pennsylvania State Museum effective at the end of June.
“Our contract with the State Museum ran five years and we did an analysis of our needs when it came time for renewal,” said Patrick Early, HACC vice president for public relations. “When the shop opened, we were looking for an additional venue to promote our crafts marketing program.
“Now,” he said, “we have increased opportunities -- including our expanded presence in Midtown Harrisburg -- and the museum store no longer fits our long-term strategy.”
Radius is already beginning a clearance sale on some of the merchandise. Consignment merchandise, which is not part of the clearance sale, will be returned to the artists if that merchandise remains unsold at the end of the month.
Once Radius ceases operation, the State Museum plans to transition to a new museum store slated to open this fall.
“As a result, some of the novelty merchandise will remain with the store and be available once the store re-opens in its new configuration in the fall,” Early said.
