County detective's talk part of 20th Anniversary Speaker Series at HACC-Lancaster Campus

LANCASTER – Detective Bill Chalfant, a court-recognized expert on gangs and an investigator in the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, will present “Influencers and Identifiers of Gang Violence” from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, in room 203 of the East Building on the Lancaster Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
The free, public presentation is designed to provide information needed to heighten the awareness of gang involvement. It is part of a year-long speaker series in recognition of the 20th anniversary of the HACC-Lancaster Campus. Topics include:

Recognizing and identifying possible indicators of gang involvement

Popularity of music, including “hip-hop” and its influence on the “gangsta” lifestyle

Role of the Internet for recruitment and representation
-
Parental and community resources
Prior to joining the Lancaster County District Attorney’s office, Chalfant spent 26 years with the Lancaster City Police Department. He has presented at numerous conferences and symposiums on a variety of gang topics.
Chalfant is co-founder and president of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the East Coast Gang Investigators Association.
