Children at HACC’s Grace M. Pollock Early Childhood Education and Childcare Center had a special visitor at the end of the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s Week of the Young Child.
Jenna Schmalhofer, Miss State Capitol read a storybook to the children and answered their questions about being in a scholarship pageant. The children took turns trying on her crown and seeing their royal reflections in a mirror. Trying on Schmalhofer’s crown is Claire Roher, age 4.
Schmalhofer has a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and focuses on early literacy and children’s literature. She competes for the title of Miss Pennsylvania in June in Pittsburgh.
