Missoula Children's Theatre brings 'The Wizard of Oz' to Live at Rose Lehrman

HARRISBURG — More than 50 local children will perform in the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) presentation of “The Wizard of Oz” at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20 at the Rose Lehrman Arts Center (RLAC) on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC – Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
Community youth are invited to audition to be part of this week-long educational experience, learning from a professional acting team. Auditions for 50-60 performers and crew ranging from first grade (at least 7 years old) through 12th grade (18 years old) will take place at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15 in the theatre. Rehearsals will be held from 4:15-9 p.m. the week leading up to the performances. Registration is available online at www.LiveatRoseLehrman.org or by calling the RLAC box office at 717-231-ROSE.
Among the roles to be cast are Dorothy, Toto, the Lion, the Tin Man, the Professor/Wizard, the Green Guard, Glinda, the Wicked Witch, Mayor Munchkin, Farmer Munchkin, the Munchkins, the Winkies, the Magicians and the Evil Magic Flowers. Assistant directors also will be selected to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities.
MCT, the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for more than 30 years and will visit more than 1,100 communities this year with 30 teams of tour actor/directors. A tour team arrives in a given town with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play . . . except the cast.
