From creative arts to cooking with kids, there’s something for everyone

LANCASTER – Challenge your creativity and spark your brain with a variety of personal enrichment classes offered this fall at the HACC-Lancaster Campus.
Continuing education classes are held at the campus, 1641 Old Philadelphia Road. The lineup of opportunities includes:
“Lancaster County at Gettysburg,” offered from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at a cost of $25. Class participants will find out about the soldiers, officers and civilians from Lancaster County who participated in the Battle of Gettysburg in July 1843.
Copper Clay, offered 6-9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22 and 29, at a cost of $65, which includes the use of tool kits. Explore this easy-to use, economical American-made metal clay. Learn to roll, stamp, texture and cut out copper clay to make your own earrings, pendants or charms. Clay packets will be available for sale to students at class. A $7 firing/tumbling fee will be charged for finished work at each session. Note: fees must be paid the first day of class, cash or check only.
Beaded Jewelry: Bracelet and Necklace, offered 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at a cost of $35. Learn the basic skills of this latest craze, from crimping to cutting, as you craft a bracelet from start to finish in one evening. A kit and all other materials are provided for an additional fee.
“Music Business, Intro,” offered noon-2 p.m. Saturdays, Nov. 20-Dec. 11, at a cost of $59. This class shows what happens behind the scenes in the music business. Learn about promotion, booking gigs, online marketing, networking, press kits and management.
“Getting Paid to Talk,” offered 6:30-9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at a cost of $39. This exciting class explores numerous aspects of voice-acting work for television, film, radio, books-on-tape, documentaries, and the Internet. The class will cover the basics, including how to prepare the all-important demo. Class participants will record a commercial script under the direction of a producer.
“Client Interviewing and Counseling,” offered 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at a cost of $25. This class familiarizes students with questions to ask a client or a friend who has had an experience with a spirit or entity, and how to handle situations involving children who have had spiritual encounters. This is one in a series of “Hidden Dimensions” sessions on paranormal investigations.
“Background Researching of a Spiritual Case,” offered 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at a cost of $25. Students will learn how to design and implement a plan that possibly will resolve a case or help in cohabiting with spirits. This is one in a series of “Hidden Dimensions” sessions on paranormal investigations.
“Cuzzin’ Eddie’s Coming – Hide the Cheese!” offered 7-9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at a cost of $25. What do you do when the relatives arrive unexpectedly for the holidays, overstay their welcome or presume you will be their complete source of entertainment? This class is designed to provide HELP (have emergency local preparations) when you need them.
“Perfect Pictures,” offered 6-8 p.m. Thursdays, Nov. 11 and 18, at a cost of $39. You can discover the key to perfect pictures – just in time for the holidays. Develop your photographic eye by learning basic camera principles, rules of composition and how to identify image. Either 35mm or digital cameras may be used.
Among the food and spirits courses offered are:
“Master Chef Recipes Made Easy,” offered 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at a cost of $59. Chef Jeffrey Stermer will showcase recipes from European Master Chefs and let you in on their secrets. Exotic dishes include Sesame Cornucopia stuffed with Crab, Trout Gazpacho with Shrimp, Beef Tenderloin Medallions with Fresh Mushrooms, and Chocolate Souffle.
Restaurant Wait Staff Wine Training, offered 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at a cost of $29. This class will equip the professional server with an understanding of wine that will help to increase wine sales, provide better customer service, and produce higher check averages. Students will sample six of the most popular varietals to allow the server to become familiar with key aspects of each wine.
“Holiday Cooking with Kids,” offered 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at a cost of $59 per adult and $25 per child 8 and older. This hands-on class brings the kids in the kitchen with us. Prepare fun foods such as the Best Ever Holiday Bread, Oatmeal Dried Cranberry Cookies and Chocolate Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies. This hands-on class is designed for an adult and a child.
