HARRISBURG – For the last five years Radius, HACC Gallery and Museum Shop has offered an opportunity and venue for Pennsylvania artisans to move their talents forward. The shop in The State Museum of Pennsylvania will celebrate its anniversary weekend Feb. 13-14 with activities and refreshments. Store wide sales begin Thursday, Feb. 11. Additional events scheduled for the month of February, include:
Feb. 1-28 Radius Featured Craftsman – Peter Cunicelli of Philadelphia offers ceramic pieces with a contrast of smooth, fluid forms with the sharpness of the lines that join each side. Like many things in life his work is multi-faceted. While in one position a piece is in motion, dramatic and bold. Turn it to view it from another angle and it becomes somewhat stifled and almost awkward. Nothing is ever perfect or always beautiful.
While creating a piece, he often has lights fixed on one side of the piece. The shadows and negative space produced by a piece are just as important as the glaze, clay body or form.
