GETTYSBURG – Earth Day comes two days early at the HACC-Gettysburg Campus with a panel discussion and exhibitors showcasing ecologically-friendly methods, operations and initiatives in preserving environmental resources.
The public is invited to the free event 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the Robert C. Hoffman community room and the HUB of the campus at 731 Old Harrisburg Road. The HACC-Gettysburg Campus Student Government Association and the Gettysburg-Adams Chamber of Commerce Environmental Team have collaborated on the event.
Exhibits will feature demonstrations and information about alternate energy use, recycling, environmental education, land use and conservation and other environmental and sustainability initiatives by Adams County businesses and organizations.
The panel will focus on green initiatives in Adams County from 1:15-2:45 p.m. The panelists are:
- Steve Rasmussen of Adams Electric Cooperative
- Julia Knight of the Green Center of Central Pennsylvania
- Bill Hartzel of Hundredfold Farm
- Charlie Bennett of Knouse Foods
Guests will receive a free Earth Day tote bag and can register for raffle prizes. Selected items in the bookstore will be discounted 20 percent. Other activities include self-guided tours of the campus’ stormwater run-off management system, carbon footprint quizzes and enhancing the campus exterior by planting flowers.
