Community invited to attend free event on April 20

LANCASTER – Tethered hot air balloon rides, a plant sale, and a photography contest are among the festivities planned in celebration of Earth Day at the HACC-Lancaster Campus.
The public is invited to join students, faculty and staff at this free event from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the lobby and room 203 of the East Building on the campus, 1641 Old Philadelphia Pike.
In addition to the tethered hot air balloon rides (weather permitting) by Windjammers, fest-goers can vote on their favorite submission in the annual photography contest, purchase spring plants and be entertained by Matt Cleveland, the “Green DJ.”
A number of clubs, organizations, governmental agencies, businesses and vendors are scheduled to participate with information, demonstrations and free samples.
Among the featured participants are campus organizations, including Allies, Environmental Science Club, Phi Theta Kappa, Business Club, Campus Bookstore, and the Student Government Association which is offering free Rita’s Italian ices. Area agencies and organizations scheduled to participate are the Lancaster County Parks/Environmental Education Center, Lancaster County Conservancy, Lancaster County Honey Producers, and Sierra Club-Lancaster Group. Businesses scheduled to participate include Fresco Green, B.B. Bellezza, Ecoloco Gifts, Wind and Solar LLC, Amway Green Cleaning Products, Dart Container, Alicia's Massage & Wellness, CenterLive Roof(R) Specialist-Creek Hill Nursery, Garden Party Soapworks, Lancaster Creative Reuse, and Chiropractic 1st.
Food vendors include Coca-Cola, Hempzel Pretzels, Herr's Snacks, and Nuts About Granola.
Green giveaways, services and prizes have been donated by the Campus Bookstore, OfficeMax, Occasions Disc Jockeys, The Phillips Group and Weis Markets.
