Nov. 22, 2011
HARRISBURG – Help is on the way for HACC students close to completing an associate degree, certificate or diploma but are not currently enrolled in classes.
These students can find out how to get back on track by attending an upcoming “Complete to Compete” event at the Harrisburg and Lancaster campuses of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
“Completing your education can result in higher wages, advancement opportunities and personal fulfillment,” said HACC President John J. “Ski” Sygielski.
Students from throughout HACC’s service region in Central Pennsylvania are invited to any session of the four scheduled sessions, including 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in room 204 of the Cooper Student Center at HACC-Harrisburg Campus and 10-noon and 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, in room 222 of the Main Building at HACC-Lancaster Campus.
At each session, students will have an opportunity to meet one-on-one with an academic adviser to review courses needed to complete a degree or program. In addition, representatives from financial aid, registration, military and veterans affairs, and faculty members will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.
“We’re holding this event to find out what we can do to help these students achieve their academic goals,” said Shanna Boley, chair of the “Complete to Compete” campaign initiated by the Alpha Nu Omega chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the honorary society for community colleges. “We’re here to help,” she added.
Students are invited to choose the session that is most convenient and register online at
www.hacc.edu, then click on the campus (Harrisburg or Lancaster) and events.
