Learn about the latest programs offered this fall

HARRISBURG – Those interested in emerging green careers are invited to investigate the classes and programs available at HACC this fall at an information session from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, in room 108 at the Green Center of Central Pennsylvania.
Visitors can get a look at HACC’s state-of-the-art facility, hear a program overview from Virgil Ganescu, Ph.D., dean of the technology division, and meet with faculty.
Admissions staff will be available to explain how to enroll and discuss opportunities that may exist with tuition.
HACC offers associate green degrees in alternative energy and environmental specialist.
Students in the alternative energy associate degree program are introduced to a spectrum of renewable energy systems and technologies to prepare them for careers in a rapidly expanding industry. Focus is placed on wind turbine energy and systems, geothermal energy and systems, and in-depth coverage of all facets of photovoltaic (solar) energy and systems.
Graduates in the environmental specialist program are prepared for a wide range of industrial, governmental and service jobs in such areas as environmental monitoring, laboratory services, pollution prevention, resource management, environmental cleanup, air quality, industrial safety, water and wastewater, solid and hazardous waste, natural resource management and regulatory affairs.

The Green Center of Central Pennsylvania is located on the first floor of the Campus Square Building, at the corner of Third and Riley streets. The entrance is on Riley Street. HACC offers green technology courses in the building, as well as at the college’s Midtown 1 and Midtown 2 sites nearby.
