HARRISBURG — Live at Rose Lehrman presents the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1,  at the Rose Lehrman Arts Center on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
Founder Lar Lubovitch has been hailed by The New York Times as "one of the 10 best choreographers in the world," and the company has been called a "national treasure" by Variety. In the last 43 years, Lubovitch has choreographed more than 100 dances for his New York-based company, which has performed in nearly all 50 states and more than 30 foreign countries.
The Live at Rose Lehrman program will feature the world premiere of “Coltrane’s Favorite Things,” set to the 1963 recording of John Coltrane’s interpretation of the classic Richard Rodgers song “My Favorite Things.” The evening program will also include “NorthStar,”with music by Philip Glass; “Duet from MEADOW,”with music from Gavin Bryars and Lubovitch’s newest dance “The Legend of Ten,”set to the music of Johannes Brahms.
A special offering for Live at Rose Lehrman patrons features a “Favorite Things” dinner and a show package. Dinner will take place at the C. Ted Lick Wildwood Conference Center with seating at 5:45 p.m. The deadline for dinner reservations is Tuesday, Jan. 25. Seating is limited.
Born in Chicago, Lubovitch was educated at the University of Iowa and the Juilliard School in New York. His teachers at Juilliard included Antony Tudor, Jose Limon, Anna Sokolow and Martha Graham. He danced in numerous modern, ballet, jazz and ethnic companies before forming the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company in 1968.

Live at Rose Lehrman will present the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1 at HACC’s Rose Lehrman Arts Center. Tickets for this performance are $32 for adults, 30 senior citizens, $15 students.
