HARRISBURG – Jennifer N. Baar of Harrisburg was recently hired as the new dean of mathematics and science for the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
Baar oversees the operation of the academic division including curriculum development for mathematics and physical sciences.
“We are delighted to have Jennie Baar on board here at the Harrisburg Campus,” said Linda Lefevre, executive dean of academic affairs for HACC’s Harrisburg Campus. “She brings with her a wealth of experiences from higher education and we look forward to her leadership in the areas of math and science.”
Before coming to Harrisburg, Baar was the administrative director for the contemplative counseling psychology department at Naropa University in Boulder, Colo.
She also was the academic coordinator and laboratory instructor in the physics department at the University of California in San Diego. Earlier she was an adjunct instructor in the physics and astronomy department for Grossmont Community College in El Cajon, Calif.
Baar completed her bachelor's degree in physics from George Washington University and master's degree in materials science from University of California, San Diego.
Baar’s community service included president of the board of directors for September High School in Boulder, where she successfully completed the school’s re-accreditation process and co-chaired fundraising events.
