HARRISBURG – HACC instructors Suzanne Mead, Ellen Evans and Young Won will exhibit their work July 18-Aug. 11 at the Rose Lehrman Art Gallery on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
A reception for the artists will be held 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 21, in the Rose Lehrman Art Gallery.
Mead creates abstract photographs soaked in color. These large, minimalist works draw the viewer into an interior space. Evans explores light with her charcoal portraits. Figures and faces seem to fracture with light and exist in a not altogether physical space. Won approaches depictions of the figure in oil, which also inhabit an interior space.
Mead has a bachelor’s degree from Sarah Lawrence College, N.Y., a certificate in photography from HACC, and completed graduate studies in photography at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. The owner of Suzanne Mead Photography since 2001, she has exhibited regionally, including in the Art of the State at the Pennsylvania State Museum and the Art Association of Harrisburg. Previously, she was a vice president for corporate communications at Rite Aid. She teaches photography.
Evans has an master’s degree in fine arts in painting from Washington University in St. Louis and a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the University of Wisconsin. She has exhibited her paintings and drawings regionally, including at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Messiah College and Columbia University in N.Y., and has been involved in a number of collaborative, multi-media forums. She teaches painting and drawing.
Won has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in painting from Maryland Institute College of Art and an undergraduate degree from Young Nam University in Seoul, South Korea. Won exhibits regionally and in Seoul at the Dong-A Gallery. She teaches painting and drawing at HACC and Messiah College.
