HARRISBURG – Midtown’s new gallery at HACC will feature mixed media works by Michael Gabner, June 15 through July 12. A reception for the artist will be held Friday, June 15, 6 to 8 p.m., during 3rd in the Burg.
Gabner combines his love for drawing and graphic design in these energetic, colorful and layered works. According to the artist, “Without a specific client to work for, type could be twisted and turned into unique shapes and the grid structure could be either supported or completely ignored. My individual human essence could be translated through a piece of charcoal and drips of paint rather than a computer.”
Mike Gabner was born and raised in the central Pennsylvanina area and currently resides in Hummelstown. He is a recent graduate of Harrisburg Area Community College’s graphic design program. During his time at HACC, Mike was the recipient of the David W. Barrat Memorial Scholarship which awards outstanding academic and artistic achievements. He also received awards in graphic design, computer art, illustration and drawing at HACC’s 2009 and 2010 student honor shows.
Fenêtre Gallery is on the second floor of HACC’s Midtown 2, which has been completely restored and upgraded to meet the varied needs of nearly 2,500 students enrolled in HACC’s trade and technology programs.
Hours for the gallery will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday and 6-8 p.m. third Fridays and by appointment. Events are free and open to the public. Entrance to the building is at 1500 Third St.
