HARRISBURG – HACC Public Safety Officers continue to cooperate with Harrisburg Bureau of Police in an ongoing investigation into an abduction of a female student reported at 8:30 a.m. today, Dec. 3, 2012, in the West parking lot of HACC’s Harrisburg Campus.
“At this time, there is no immediate danger to the College community,” said Todd Crawley, HACC’s public safety director. “The College community is encouraged to stay alert and take normal precautions.”
Crawley outlined actions taken by the College to apprise students and employees of the situation.
“When I learned of the incident, I contacted city police for confirmation that the student was driven off campus and released in East Pennsboro Township,” Crawley said.
“Once city police confirmed the incident took place, HACC sent an alert to College students and employees who were urged to take precautions and contact campus security with any information,” he said.
A second alert advised the College community of the description of the suspect as given by city police, Crawley said.
A third alert sent by Crawley said: “Police state that everyone can resume normal activities but to stay alert and take normal precautions.”
“Following incidents such as this, HACC reviews its safety and security procedures to ensure we are providing a safe campus to the College community,” Crawley said. “I encourage any student or employee with a concern to contact me directly at 717-221-1300, ext. 1567. As always, HACC students and employees are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings and contact safety and security with any concerns.”
