Championship women’s team seeks players
Dec. 20, 2012
HARRISBURG – The Lady “Hawks” of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, are looking for female HACC students who want to play basketball on their dynamic and competitive team.
“The team is a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA),” said Michele Kieff, head coach of the Lady Hawks. “Being a part of the NJCAA gives the school’s student-athletes an opportunity to compete on a regional and national stage.”
The Lady Hawks are currently ranked second in the EPAC.
“Being a part of the team provides incredible benefits for our students – lasting friendships, good time management skills, the ability to play basketball after high school and the time to strengthen skills necessary to continue their basketball career at a four-year institution,” said Kieff.
Krista Hoffman, point guard and first-year dental hygiene student, said, “This is my first semester here, and I’ve definitely made friends on the basketball team that will continue once the season is over.”
Guard/forward Tawni Ruby, a criminal justice student, said, “One of the biggest benefits I’ve gotten from playing basketball with HACC is definitely discipline and how to manage my time between schoolwork and basketball.”
