HARRISBURG — Live at Rose Lehrman will present Aquila Theatre’s bold interpretation of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, in the Rose Lehrman Arts Center on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
A classically trained yet modern troupe, Aquila breathes fresh life and fire into the tragedy, with The New Yorker magazine describing their productions as "the classics made relevant with superb acting and clever staging."
Ghosts, witches, and many of Shakespeare's most famous lines make “Macbeth” one of the most enduring and often performed works.
In this tale, "Fair is foul and foul is fair," nothing is as it seems, and men combat their own madness and fates. A prophecy drives the Scottish general Macbeth and his wife along a murderous and maddening path of war, insanity, guilt, and death.
This tour of Aquila Theatre is made possible by a grant from Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with the support from the National Endowment for the Arts, The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and The Cultural Enrichment Fund. Additional support for this Live at Rose Lehrman event comes from the HACC Foundation and the McCormick Family Foundation. Media sponsors are Pennlive.com and WHTM-TV abc27.
