HARRISBURG – HACC’s Live at Rose Lehrman presents Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013. The show, featuring authentic flamenco dance, song and music, begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Rose Lehrman Arts Center on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
Noche Flamenca, formed in 1993 by Martin Santangelo and his flamenco award-winning wife, Soledad Barrio, promises audiences “the vivid and expansive sea of passion and emotion that is flamenco.”
Flamenco hails from the Andalucía region of southern Spain, with influences from Romans, Jews, Moors and nomadic gypsies. The music features cante (singing), toque (guitar playing), baile (dance) and palmas (handclaps). Of Noche Flamenca’s star, Barrio, Village Voice says, “Her body is her soul’s instrument, ensnared by the music, and we’re fortunate to be in the same space with her.”
Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca regularly perform throughout the world. Highlights of the group’s performances include regular seasons in New York City and Buenos Aires, Argentina, as well as annual tours throughout North America.
Show tickets are $39 for adults and $19 for students. To order tickets, call 717-231-ROSE (7673) or go to www.LiveatRoseLehrman.org.
