‘It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced.’ – President Abraham Lincoln
Nov. 4, 2013
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – On Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, in recognition of the 150th Anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, the Gettysburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, will hold multiple commemorative events.
The annual Dedication Day ceremony, sponsored by Gettysburg National Military Park, the Gettysburg Foundation, the Lincoln Fellowship of Pennsylvania and Gettysburg College, will begin at 10 a.m. in the Soldiers’ National Cemetery, with the 51st Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell and James McPherson, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian, as the keynote speakers.

Hoffman Community Room at HACC’s Gettysburg Campus, Charlie Fennell, Ph.D. – licensed battlefield guide, HACC history professor and Battle of Gettysburg expert – will present the historical importance of the Battle of Gettysburg as an enduring national shrine. The presentation is open to the public.
At 6 p.m., Terry Havel – HACC history professor and licensed Gettysburg town guide – will provide an interpretive walking tour that follows Lincoln’s footsteps during his November 1863 visit. This tour, which is open to the public, will begin at the Gettysburg Train Station, 35 Carlisle St., and will last approximately 90 minutes.
