Domestic Violence Awareness program at HACC's Gettysburg Campus

Domestic Violence Awareness program at HACC's Gettysburg Campus Free events scheduled for Oct. 22 and Oct. 23
Oct. 15, 2013
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Donna Andersen, whose story was featured on Investigation Discovery’s “Who the Bleep Did I Marry?,” will speak in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness month on Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., in the Robert C. Hoffman Community Room of the Gettysburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.

HACC’s Office of Student Life and Multicultural Programs is joining forces with the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) of Gettysburg and Adams County, Survivors, Inc., to present the Domestic Violence Awareness Month program.

Andersen is a domestic abuse survivor. She was married to a man whose motive for marriage was to scam her out of her life savings for his fake investment firm. Andersen speaks across the country, helping men and women seek solace in knowing that they do not have to be victims of domestic abuse if they can spot warning signs of potentially abusive partners.

This free event will also feature local domestic violence nonprofit organizations, such as Survivors, Inc. and the YWCA of Gettysburg and Adams County. The program will highlight resources and methods of reporting sexual or relationship violence at HACC.
