HARRISBURG, Pa. – The HACC Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to raise private contributions in support of HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, has appointed new board members for three-year terms ending June 30, 2015.
 
The new board members are:
• Oralia Garcia Dominic, Ph.D. (Harrisburg Campus)
• Gary Laabs (Gettysburg Campus)
• Kristin Scofield (Harrisburg Campus)
• Richard Scott (Lebanon Campus)
• Randy Sibert (Harrisburg Campus)
• Stephen Staman (Lancaster Campus)
 
Oralia Garcia Dominic, Ph.D.,is an assistant professor at the College of Medicine of the Penn State Milton Hershey Medical Center and was a graduate of Leadership Harrisburg Area’s 2011 Executive Leadership Series.
 
Gary Laabs currently a registered nurse at Hanover Hospital, is a 2008 graduate of HACC’s RN program. He used HACC workforce training programs while working at Utz Quality Foods, was a member of the HACC Gettysburg major gift campaign leadership team in 2008 to 2009 and has contributed to and assisted in securing gifts for the HACC Foundation.
 
Kristin Scofield, administrative assistant at the State Museum of Pennsylvania, is on the board of directors of Open Stage of Harrisburg and is on the Tocqueville Society Advisory Committee of the United Way of the Capital Region.
 
Richard Scotthas been chairman of the Francis J. Dixon Foundation for two years and, prior to that, served as a board member for more than 15 years. He also serves on the board of directors of both the United Way of Lebanon County and Domestic Violence Intervention of Lebanon County.
 
Randy Sibert is president of The Sibert Group, a nonprofit consulting firm. He is also vice president of the Hershey Symphony Orchestra board of directors and was an instructor at the HACC Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies. Some of his other volunteer efforts include the Rotary Club of Colonial Park, Big 33 General Scholarship Application Committee and Joining Hands in Disaster Relief.  
 
Stephen Staman, vice president and senior commercial loan officer at Metro Bank’s Lancaster County branch, is a board member for the Government Policy Committee of Pennsylvania Banker’s Association. He is also a member of the Lancaster Rotary Club and a volunteer with the United Way of Lancaster, Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and the First Presbyterian Church.

The HACC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was established in 1985 to raise private and corporate revenues in support of HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College. The HACC Foundation endowment consists of more than 295 funds totaling over $29 million, making the HACC Foundation one of the wealthiest community college foundations in the nation. In fiscal year 2011-12 alone, the HACC Foundation contributed close to $2.2 million to the College in scholarships, special programs and facilities and provided financial assistance to 1,067 students.
 
The projects benefitting from donations to the HACC Foundation include the following:

• Establishment of the Jennifer Weaver Scholarship Award Fund to assist Latino and first- generation college students and the Jonathan Ralph Stellar Memorial Scholarship Fund to support male students who have overcome adversity (Gettysburg Campus)
• Renovation and expansion of the Senator John J. Shumaker Public Safety Center (PSC) and the construction of Midtown I and II and the Hall Technology Building (Harrisburg Campus)
• Establishment of the Brossman Charitable Foundation Library and Learning Center and the obtainment and updating of equipment for Nursing and Cardiac Sonography program students (Lancaster Campus)
• Upgrading of computer workstations and seating in the Pushnik Memorial library and the establishment of the Opportunity and Access Scholarship Fund, the Lebanon Faculty Scholarship Award and the Lebanon Staff S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Award (Lebanon Campus)
• Expansion of classroom and science lab projects supported by Gov. George M. Leader’s contributions to the York Campus Fund (York Campus)

 
Contributions to the HACC Foundation are accepted in the form of unrestricted gifts to augment endowed funds, contributions to existing or new scholarship programs or award funds, support for academic and workforce programs, sponsorship of special events and cultural programs and contributions made in honor or in memory of individuals. In addition, the Foundation holds annual events, including the Frank J. Dixon Tournament for Scholarships, and various scholarship award ceremonies.
