College’s status based on U.S. Department of Education data analysis of two-year institutions of higher learning

HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC ranks 60th out of nearly 1,200 two-year institutions nationwide in the number of associate degrees awarded in all disciplines in 2011-12, according to an analysis of United States Department of Education data.
“Top 100 Associate Degree Producers” is an annual analysis by Community College Week, a biweekly publication focusing on two-year institutions, including 1,132 community colleges, in the United States.
The report notes HACC conferred 2,020 associate degrees during 2011-12. The previous period, 2010-11, HACC conferred 1,847 degrees and was ranked 65th in the nation, according to the magazine’s analysis of the federal data.
In addition, HACC ranked among the top 50 two-year institutions for the number of degrees conferred in eight of 20 categories in 2011-12, including:
• Business, management, marketing and related support services
• Computer and information sciences and support services
• Criminal justice and corrections
• Education
• Health professions and related programs
• Nursing: registered, administration, research and clinical
• Protective services, including Homeland Security, law enforcement, firefighting and related protective services
• Sales (general), merchandising and related marketing operations
“Being ranked in the top 5 percent of the nation in the number of associate degrees awarded in all disciplines showcases the success of the more than 2,000 students who graduated from HACC in 2011-12,” said HACC President John J. “Ski” Sygielski, Ed.D.
