HARRISBURG, Pa. –Students who want to turn their degree into a job or career will find a new resource at their fingertips starting in January 2014 through a partnership formed by Career Services at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, and HACC’s Alumni Relations Department.
“Through this career mentoring program, HACC students learn about the ‘real world’ of work from alumni who have lived the experience,” said Maureen Hoepfer, HACC’s director of alumni relations. “In turn, alumni gain new information from students, such as new courses and programs, news about faculty and changes in campus life.”
Hoepfer added, “Alumni have first-hand knowledge about how to turn a degree into a job and career. This is not information you can read about in a textbook.”
Professionals from all fields are invited to become mentors. The mentor controls the time commitment, level of participation and the type of contact he or she has with students. Professionals willing to share their knowledge can register now by logging into HACC’s new online module and using the password: careerhawk
HACC students interested in connecting with current professionals may sign up by contacting Career Services.
