Tuition-funded Certified Nurse Aide Training Available at HACC's Lebanon Campus

Program offered to Lebanon County residents who meet requirements
Oct. 8, 2013
LEBANON, Pa. – Lebanon County residents interested in health care can get started on a lifelong career with a tuition-funded nurse aide training program at HACC’s Lebanon Campus.

The demand for nurse aides is increasing, and the field is expected to be among the largest growth sectors in health care for the next few decades.

To help meet this demand in Lebanon County, the Francis J. Dixon Foundation will fund the tuition costs of seven qualified students who successfully complete the program.

Since the tuition-funded program was launched at HACC’s Lebanon Campus in May 2013, the approximately four-week course has been successfully completed by 23 students. The Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Examination is required to be taken within 90 days of completing the program.

Two upcoming courses are scheduled:

·         Nov. 14-Dec. 11, 2013 (no class will be held on Nov. 28 and 29)
·         Jan. 6-30, 2014 (no class will be held on Jan. 20)

The Lebanon Campus nurse aide training program consists of 120 contact hours per course. The student learning experience features instruction in the classroom and laboratory, as well as on location at clinical sites. This approach integrates theoretical and real-world instruction.

Potential students should register at least four weeks in advance to complete prerequisites before the first day of class, including a Pennsylvania State Police background check, physical exam and tuberculin tests. In addition, proof of residency in Lebanon County is required.
