HACC Foundation recognizes donors for their support of HACC's College-in-the-High School program

March 25, 2014

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The HACC Foundation Board of Directors and HACC President John J. “Ski” Sygielski, Ed.D., recognized 2013-14 Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) contributors during the Board’s meeting on March 17, 2014, at the Shumaker Public Safety Center on HACC’s Harrisburg Campus.

The 2013-14 contributors are Eichelbergers, Inc.; Fulton Bank; Hershey Entertainment & Resorts; Overnight Office, Inc.; Susquehanna Bancshares, Inc.; UGI Utilities, Inc., and Waste Management. Together, these companies contributed $34,500 to the HACC Foundation through the EITC program.

EITC funds support HACC’s College-in-the-High-School (CHS) program, which enrolls qualified high school students from more than 40 Central Pennsylvania school districts in college-level courses at their high school or technical school during the regular school day.

The EITC program, which is administered by the state's Department of Community and Economic Development, provides approved businesses with a 75-percent tax credit for donations to eligible nonprofit organizations. The tax credit increases to 90 percent if the company commits to the same donations for two consecutive years. A business paying taxes in Pennsylvania can receive up to $750,000 in tax credits annually through the EITC program.

The HACC Foundation, a 501(c) 3 organization that supports HACC, is eligible for EITC contributions as an educational improvement organization.
