Fiction as an Act of Faith
Author Carlene Bauer will present a lecture on the role of fiction in a world where science and the Internet explain much of human existence. Drawing on her own experience as a memorist and novelist, Bauer will discuss the leap of faith that is imagining characters and situations in a disenchanted world. A String of Pearls: Memory, Mystery & Batman
Dr. Brett Stumphy, English professor at HACC’s Lebanon Campus, will present a lecture in honor of the 75th birthday of the Batman comic on two nights in April. The April 22 lecture will be part of ReDISCOVER HACC in celebration of HACC’s 50th anniversary. Dr. Stumphy will explore cultural narratives and identity politics in Batman. Comics and Paperback Plus in Palmyra will also distribute copies of Green Lantern and Justice League of America #1 comics at the event on April 22. |
