She Said, "Yes!" HACC Student Proposes During Commencement Ceremony

May 15, 2015
Santos Robles of Lebanon made his graduation extra special today at HACC’s Commencement ceremony when he proposed to his girlfriend, Bobbie Ortiz of Lebanon.

After receiving his degree, Robles surprised Ortiz and the hundreds of people in attendance at the Giant Center when he crossed the stage to shake hands with HACC President John J. “Ski” Sygielski, Ed.D., and then walked into the crowd and proposed.

Robles and Ortiz met in October 2013 through Robles’ roommate.

Robles attended classes at HACC’s Lebanon Campus and received his associate degree in social sciences. He came to HACC after he finished his contract with the U.S. Army. Robles says the people at HACC are his favorite thing about the College. “All the staff and the professors have taught me so much – not just academics but life lessons as well,” he said.

While at HACC, Robles worked in the Lebanon Campus Military and Veterans Affairs Office, helping fellow students to use their GI Bill benefits. His future plans include working at Youth Advocate Programs in Lebanon and obtaining his bachelor’s degree from Albright College.

Robles says his children are his greatest personal achievement. Robles and Ortiz have four children.
