HARRISBURG, Pa. - Thanks to generous sponsors, HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, and the HACC Foundation were able to raise more than $133,000 for student scholarships at the 20th Frank J. Dixon Tournament for Scholarships at HACC.
This year’s event was held Sept. 19, 2016, at the Hershey Country Club. A total of 84 sponsors and 31 golf teams participated. Not only did the teams get to enjoy a great day of golf, but they were also encouraged to bid on items at a silent auction and participate in the post-tournament reception and program.
The words from two students below illustrate the enormous impact these contributions make to HACC students:
Krista S. Watkins, a HACC student, said, “…I am deeply appreciative of your support. I am currently majoring in Human Services with hopes of becoming a substance abuse counselor. The financial assistance you provided will be of great help to me in paying my educational expenses, and it will allow me to concentrate more of my time for studying and raising my son. Thank you again for your generosity and support. I promise you I will work hard and eventually give something back to others, both as a counselor and possibly a scholarship to future students like myself.”
HACC student Tucker Leighty-Phillips said, “…this is an incredible honor and to be not only considered, but chosen to receive this award only fuels my ambition. Honestly, the financial reward is just an added bonus to the reward of the enthusiasm I’ve been given towards working hard and bettering myself – and for that I am most grateful.”

HACC’s generous donors have helped provide opportunities to students who have reached their goals at HACC and beyond. We are so thankful for their generosity and support. Because of them, students who reach their educational goals improve the lives of their families and better the community in which we live.
HACC and the HACC Foundation’s next BIG fundraiser for HACC students is HACC’s Day of Giving. Please visit www.hacc.edu/HeartHACC for more information.
