HACC Foundation Allocates $682,251 for HACC Programs and Projects
 
HARRISBURG, Pa. – The HACC Foundation recently provided funding for key projects at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, including a new instructional ambulance and a women’s leadership conference.
 
The HACC Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises private contributions in support of HACC, approved $682,251 for projects at the College. This funding is made possible through generous contributions from individual and organizational donors.
 
Linnie S. Carter, Ph.D., APR, vice president of college advancement at HACC and executive director of the HACC Foundation, said, “HACC and the HACC Foundation are partners and have been since 1985. Some of the amazing initiatives at HACC simply would not have been possible without the HACC Foundation. Our donors contribute millions of dollars to invest in the College, our students, our community and our future. In return, the HACC Foundation and HACC use these generous contributions wisely to support mission-critical projects that positively impact Central Pennsylvania and, in some cases, the world.”
 
The HACC Foundation funded the following projects:

Public Safety Center Debt Service This funding provides support in payment toward the debt of the Public Safety Center.  $92,875
EMS Ambulance 2016 Funding was granted to purchase a new ambulance for Emergency Management Services (EMS) training and certification programs.                                         $81,625
HACC Foundation Sponsorship from Cultural Series Endowment Funds This fund provides assistance for performances and events during the 2016-17 Live at Rose Lehrman series:

Evacuation Chairs Funding was granted to purchase evacuation chairs for people with disabilities who cannot evacuate buildings by use of stairs in emergency situations.                                         $14,895
V-60 Ventilator Funding was granted to purchase a ventilator for respiratory therapist training.                                     $13,020.70
HACC Women's Future Leader Conference Funding was granted to sponsor a women’s leadership conference for female students.                                          $4,500
Increasing Engagement in the Learning Environment via 3D Printed Models Funding was granted to create 3D models for utilization in mechatronics and biology classes.                                      $1,823.50
Classroom Technology Assessment Audiovisual Consulting Services Funding was granted to develop a classroom design guide to streamline processes for training and student support.                                         $14,900
Paintings by Sean McConnor Funding was granted to support the visiting artist program and showcase the work of Sean McConnor.                                             $500
Development of Communications Hub 2.0 Funding was granted to upgrade the College’s current marketing request hub used by employees collegewide to submit communications-related requests to the Office of College Advancement.                                         $35,000
Infant Radiant Warmer Funding was granted to provide an infant radiant warmer to prepare nursing students for the realism of working with live patients, in particular infants.                                      $3,693.60
Airway Management Trainer Funding was granted to purchase equipment for the respiratory therapist program.                                      $4,687.20
Public Safety Center Debt Service Additional funding was provided to support payment toward the debt of the Public Safety Center.                                       $341,497
Servo-i Ventilator (Refurbished) Funding was granted to purchase equipment for the respiratory therapist program.                                          $9,225
Avea Ventilator (Refurbished) Funding was granted to purchase equipment for the respiratory therapist program.                                          $7,245
York Campus Cytec Art Program Space Design Funding was granted to build an art program through space design at the York Campus.                                          $3,800
PTK ANO Alumni Association Programs Funding was granted to Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Nu Omega Alumni Association to continue the program outreach.                                    $13,871.49
Par Score Technology Funding was granted to provide training support in improving the quality of each examination within the nursing program.                                      $9,060.62
AirTraq Video Laryngoscope Funding was granted to purchase equipment for nursing programs.                                           $1,220
Infant Resuscitation Manikin System Funding was granted to purchase equipment for nursing programs.                                           $3,812

HACC Foundation Welcomes New Board Member
 
HARRISBURG, Pa. – Jonathan D. Williams of Camp Hill is the newest member of the HACC Foundation Board.
 
Williams is the vice president and senior private client advisor for Wilmington Trust, an M&T Company. His background is rooted in asset management, wealth management, strategic alternatives for business owners and private banking. Additionally, he has a deep background in working with foundations and endowments, given the firm’s very large client base of this segment.
 
He said, “I’m honored to have joined the HACC Foundation Board. I can’t think of many other things more fulfilling than helping others succeed. Casting a larger net of accessible education that allows Pennsylvania residents to succeed is something my wife and I are certainly invested in.”
 
Williams is filling the unexpired term of Randy Sibert that ends June 30, 2018, and will represent HACC’s Harrisburg Campus.

HACC to Host Open House for Future Massage Therapists
 
HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, is hosting an informational open house on its massage therapy program Nov. 21 from 6-7 p.m. in Hall Tech, Room 201, on HACC’s Harrisburg Campus.
 
HACC’s massage therapy program is designed to give students exposure to a broad variety of massage methods. It teaches students the balance between technique, caring for others and self-care.
 
Students receive 115 hours of hands-on experience throughout the 900-hour program, which includes day and evening courses as well as financial aid for those who qualify.
 
The massage therapy field has high demand, allowing successful graduates to work in a medical office, spa or their own private practice. Massage therapy is a career for students with a desire to help others.

Tartan Terrors to Perform for Live at Rose Lehrman Series
 
HARRISBURG, Pa. – Celtic performers, the Tartan Terrors, will bring a blend of rock ‘n’ roll and traditional folklore to the stage Nov. 30, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. at Live at Rose Lehrman in the Rose Lehrman Arts Center on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
 
With an arsenal featuring classic pipes and fiddle, driving drum tones and signature guitar styles, the Tartan Terrors feature their award-winning step dancers, Highland dancers and internationally recognized comedic performers.
 
The group has performed on four different continents, which included a performance in Dublin, and has been featured in various shows and publications including “Good Morning America” and Celtic Beat Magazine.  
 
Show sponsors include the HACC Foundation, HACC’s Student Government Association and The Rose Lehrman Arts Fund of The Foundation For Enhancing Communities.
