HACC News: Open Enrollment Days and HACC Foundation Allocations

HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, shares recent news and events with the community, including:
  • HACC Hosts 2016 Open Enrollment Days
  • HACC Foundation Allocates $170,176 for HACC Programs and Projects
     
HACC Hosts 2016 Open Enrollment Days
 
Making the process as simple as possible for the student to enroll into college is key. HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, is doing just that with its 2016 Open Enrollment Days in May, June and August.  Anyone can visit HACC’s campuses in Gettysburg, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lebanon or York for Open Enrollment Days from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on May 2-4, June 6-8 and Aug. 8-10.
 
In one day, attendees can:
 
  • Learn about the extensive range of programs including, but not limited to: college classes in the high schools, weekend workshops, associate degree programs, job training programs, English as a Second Language (ESL), GED preparation and testing
  • Complete the free application for admissions
  • Meet with staff to discuss classes, financial aid and scholarships
  • Take a placement test
  • Register for classes
  • Pay bills

Also, thanks to the HACC Foundation, future students can enter a chance to win $500 for their fall 2016 tuition and fees at HACC while at the event.

HACC Foundation Allocates $170,176 for HACC Programs and Projects
 
The installation of new lab equipment and classroom renovations are among the new projects at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, thanks to the HACC Foundation. The HACC Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises private contributions in support of HACC, approved $170,176 for projects at the College. This funding is made possible through generous contributions from individual and organizational donors.
 
“The HACC Foundation is essential to the College – especially in light of dwindling government funding. Therefore, philanthropic support from our donors is more important now than ever before. Our donors never have to wonder if their contributions are used responsibly. All they have to do is visit any campus, talk to a scholarship recipient or chat with a faculty member. We are grateful for our donors. Without them, there is no us,” said Linnie S. Carter, Ph.D., APR, vice president of college advancement at HACC and executive director of the HACC Foundation.
 
The funding from the HACC Foundation will be used for the following purposes:
 
Purpose of HACC Foundation Funding Benefit to Students and College Fund Amount
Replacement of Faulty Equipment for the Chemistry Lab This project will replace 20 hot plates in the chemistry lab at the Harrisburg Campus. $10,000.00
Health Careers Active Learning Classroom This funding will support the redesign of the health careers active learning classroom at HACC’s Lancaster Campus. The redesign will allow for the best technology for lecture and lab along with hands-on skills and the opportunity for students to break into small groups to work collaboratively. $18,670.00
Safety and Security Smartphone Application This collegewide project will create a new way for students and employees to report safety and security issues on campus through the program, NowForce Reporter and SOS’s. $19,990.00
Trisonics GE Vivid 7 SONO machine This funding will support the purchase of a digital cardiac sonography machine for the Lancaster Campus that will be used to help students gain the hands-on skills needed for this career. $27,000.00
Curricular Electronic Approval Implementation This program will assist staff (collegewide) in accessing and managing curriculum through a new software system, Curriculog. Curriculog will assist in automating the process and providing users with a one-stop area to manage curriculum with a dashboard functionality. $94,516.00
