Not Too Late to Enroll for HACC’s Late-Start Classes
HARRISBURG, Pa. - Many students, including Allena McCloud, across Central Pennsylvania will return to HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, on Jan. 17, 2017, for the start of their spring term. For those who have recently decided they would like to register, it is not too late. HACC offers late-start classes beginning Jan. 30.
Through flexible start times, online classes and child care access at some campuses, HACC provides an opportunity for traditional and nontraditional students, like McCloud, to continue their education.

Following a year at University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, where she received an athletic scholarship as a thrower, McCloud withdrew for medical reasons. She returned home to Lancaster, Pa. and researched educational options that would enable her to earn her degree while dealing with medical issues.

“I specifically looked for a school nearby that, in addition to a range of classes, would welcome nontraditional students like me into the community and work with any background,” she said. “Affordability and flexibility were also important, and HACC offered everything I was looking for!”

Arriving at HACC in fall 2015, McCloud was drawn to the health care field and chose to pursue an associate degree in health care management at HACC’s Lancaster Campus.

She is on track to graduate in spring 2017 and plans to earn her bachelor’s degree at a four-year college, hopefully later receiving a master’s degree.

It’s not too late to join McCloud on a journey at HACC. Registration for late-start classes is open now and financial aid is available if eligible. However, processing time may vary.
