Mother’s Day 2019 has an extra special significance for 10 women in the Clinical Nursing Program at HACC’s Gettysburg Campus – the shared bond of motherhood. Five women gave birth during the spring 2019 term; the other five have due dates that range from June through November 2019.
In addition to preparing for motherhood, they endured months of study groups, burned the midnight oil and participated in on-the-job training.
So, what are their plans for celebrating their day? It’s simple – relaxing and spending time with family are on the top of the list.
Mom Marguerite Shughart gave birth to Harper Rose, now six weeks old, while successfully earning her nursing pin and associate degree this month.
Six weeks ago, Kristi Carroll also gave birth to a son, Mason, and Amelia Demopoulos gave birth to a daughter, Stephanie Elva. Three weeks ago, Katherine Crandall gave birth to a daughter, Ricki-Anne, and Heather Myers gave birth to a son, Lincoln John.
Fellow graduates Amanda Hemler and Emily Duff are due to deliver this summer. In addition, awaiting arrivals in the next few months are Kristin Ali, Miranda Fogle and Caitlin Shriver.
Shughart and Hemler share another bond: both gave birth to daughters earlier in their journey toward an associate degree in nursing.
To all moms and moms-to-be: Happy Mother’s Day from HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College!
