During this challenging time, we want to thank and recognize HACC employees, students and others who are making a difference. The heroes of this story are faculty from the Nursing and Allied Health programs.
HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, recently donated personal protective equipment and supplies to UPMC Pinnacle Health in response to a need during the global coronavirus pandemic.
On March 21, 2020, faculty from the Nursing and Allied Health programs at HACC’s Harrisburg Campus gathered the following items valued at $1,591:
Antibacterial supplies – 31 containers
Bouffant caps – 4 boxes
Disposable lab coats – 12 packages
Face masks – 43 boxes
Gloves – 166 boxes
Gowns – 105 packages
Protective eyewear – 13 pairs
Surgeon hoods – 3 packages
Shoe covers – 3 boxes
UPMC Pinnacle took the items to their central distribution center to be given to hospitals and departments in most need.
“UPMC is humbled by the outpouring of support from the community interested in donating supplies,” said Philip Guarneschelli, president of UPMC Pinnacle. “We are immensely thankful for the generous donation from HACC as UPMC team members continue to provide care for our patients and work to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community.”
HACC has also notified area hospitals to contact the College if they have additional needs for supplies that the College may have in storage.
