Fleagle
April 21, 2020
This story is part of our “HACC Heroes” series. We recognize the severity of the global coronavirus pandemic and its impact on our communities. During this challenging time, we want to thank and recognize some of the many HACC employees, students and others who are making a difference. The hero of this story is Rachel Fleagle, a HACC student.

HARRISBURG, Pa. – In this time of change and uncertainty, students at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, have banded together to provide support and information to their communities and HACC faculty and peers.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak in this country, Rachel Fleagle, a student in HACC’s Communication Program, has been proactively helping faculty and students using various platforms, including D2L, HACC’s online learning platform; email; and Facebook. Fleagle also created an informative instructional video to help students with the transition to using Zoom software.

“Students seemed to appreciate the resources and encouragement, and staying up-to-date on information,” said Fleagle.

“It’s really a blessing to have the opportunity to help other people, even in small ways!,” said Fleagle. She added, “It’s truly been a team effort.”

Fleagle encourages all to “look for opportunities to not only help others in practical ways, but to offer encouragement and brighten their day!”

According to HACC’s Virtual Learning Student Advisory Council (VLSAC), Rachel “is absolutely a HACC hero.”
