Funds will benefit diversity and inclusion projects

HARRISBURG, Pa. –
HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, will receive $100,000 from the
BB&T now Truist Economic Growth Fund at the
Lancaster County Community Foundation to support diversity initiatives and an inclusive excellence mentoring program at HACC’s Lancaster Campus.
The funds will be administered by the
HACC Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in 1985 to raise funds for HACC.
On April 22, 2021, the BB&T now Truist Economic Growth Fund at the Lancaster County Community Foundation named HACC and six other Lancaster-area higher education institutions as recipients of nearly $850,000 in grant investments.
John J. “Ski” Sygielski, MBA, Ed.D., HACC president and CEO, said, “This generous investment in support of diversity, inclusion and belonging initiatives at HACC will benefit students and employees with opportunities to better understand the changing demographics of our service region and will afford those in the Lancaster community to engage with the College in new and meaningful ways through training and education opportunities.
Linnie S. Carter, Ph.D., APR, the vice president of college advancement at HACC and executive director of the HACC Foundation, said, “This generous funding exemplifies the many partnerships that HACC has nurtured since its founding in 1964. The Lancaster County Community Foundation has supported the College for many years. Also, the other grant recipients are institutions to which our students transfer and with which HACC partners to provide innovative instruction and services. We are proud to be among the colleges and universities receiving this philanthropic investment.”
